For my last Sunday as Primary chorister, I had to do something fun! I knew play-dough and plastic shape cutters would help make a fun singing time activity :)
For junior primary, I let two kids come up at a time and each pick a play-dough color and shape cutter. This is a great activity to use when teaching a new song (lots of repeating while playing!)
Rules:
You can't take out the play-dough until the children start singing.
Once the children sing, roll out the dough and try to cut out as many shapes as you can!
Once the end of the song is sung, there is no more shaping the play-dough!
Have fun counting the shapes and showing what you cut out to your peers.
The kids had so much fun playing and it was HEART breaking to say goodbye to those sweet children! We moved into a different area and will no longer be in that ward, so it was time to say goodbye :(
I absolutely loved being the chorister! I had no clue what I was doing when I first started and was very intimidated by the calling. However, Heavenly Father always helps us meet the call. I always appreciated ideas online and thought I would share some of my own.
I will post a few more ideas and templates I've created in hopes that it will make other choristers have an easier job ;) I hope that you feel the joy of singing with the primary children like I have. What a blessing and may Heavenly Father bless you with your calling :)
