I teach music at church to children who are three to twelve years old. We learn a new song every month, and will perform those songs on October 27th! I have never helped lead this type of performance before (known as the "Primary Program,") so I wasn't sure what to expect.
We rehearsed for the performance on October 13th, and things seemed so chaotic! The younger children were tired of sitting in their chairs and some were even running around! I started to get NERVOUS for our performance!
I prayed for guidance. I asked for help to lovingly teach them to obey. Ethan and I took a trip to the dollar store and these fabulous stickers were one of the shining answers to my prayers! On October 20th, I basically walked around with these stickers and told the adults, "I have stickers! I have stickers! The Lord and these stickers will surely work!"
When it was time to rehearse, I prayed for confidence and help. I showed the primary the stickers and told them how to earn them. They learned when to sit and stand, what to do with their arms while singing, etc. I told them about the stickers right after some leaders explained why they should be obedient and reverent. We ended up having a STELLAR practice!
This was a confident primary that loved to sing! I felt the influence of the Holy Ghost touch my heart as they sang. I knew everyone in the room did as well. I pray that the words of these songs will help these children of God throughout their lives! They have certainly helped me :)
