I found a free online resource to help toddlers learn to tell time. I start out by explaining the difference between the long and short hand, ask Ethan to repeat what time it is by changing the hands a few times, and then let him click around while I explain what time it is. Here is the source:
Turn it into an FHE Lesson
You can also explain that we are given a small amount of time (compared to eternity) in mortality and that we should use that time wisely. If we put our love for Heavenly Father and our neighbor as our first priorities, we will be guided to know the best ways to use the precious time that we have been given (Matthew 22: 37-39).
President Uchtdorf compares the story of Rip Van Winkle to sleeping through the restoration of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This prompts me to wonder what I use my time for? Am I using it to become like the Savior, or am I being idle and wasting time? You can read his talk by using the following link:

I read Alma 5 the other day and a scripture stood out to me, "Behold, are ye stripped of pride? I say unto you, if ye are not ye are not prepared to meet God. Behold ye must prepare quickly; for the kingdom of heaven is soon at hand." I want to use the time I have been given to prepare to meet God, and when I forget to follow that goal, I am thankful for repentance to be clean and try again.
